Intro

Are you under 30 OR do you have an idea aimed at young people? Then you are in the right place. At BROEI you get space, equipment, support and a lively community to develop your idea freely, at your own pace. A radio show, an anti-waste concept, a mental wellbeing project, or something we have not thought of yet… pitch it.

STEP 1: Mandatory first info session

To avoid overwhelming you with information, we organise a monthly info session. You can explore the spaces, learn about BROEI and how we work, find out what you can expect from us and what we expect from you. There is plenty of time for questions. Still reading and excited? Find the upcoming sessions below and sign up. This is not a final application. Cannot attend any session, or have an urgent question? Email fabian@broei.be and we will find a solution together.

STEP 2: Submit your project

After the info session, we send you the official application form. Do not worry: we are not expecting a finished policy plan or a 30-page dossier. We mainly want to understand what you want to do and how far along you are. Once you send us this document, your application is official.

STEP 3: Selection

Submitted your application? Great! Sit back, relax and wait until the countdown above reaches zero. We then gather the applications and assess which projects best fit our activities and possibilities. Within two weeks after the deadline, you will hear whether your project has been selected.

FAQ

What is BROEI?

BROEI is a place for young makers, organisations and initiatives. We create space for young people to experiment, collaborate and develop their ideas.

Read more about our vision and mission

Do I need to be part of an organisation to submit an idea?

You do not need to have a legal status (non-profit organisation, de facto association, etc.) to submit an idea. You can also submit an idea as an individual. So you do not need to be part of a larger group or an existing organisation.

How much does it all cost?

We have a fair pricing system where young people just starting out pay less than organisations that have been around for longer. As a guide, a newcomer pays €70 per month. During the information session, we’ll explain in more detail what this covers and which rate applies to your project.

Can I use a space as a permanent studio?

No, all spaces within this open call are shared and are used by different organisations via a mutually agreed booking system. This means that using our space as a permanent studio isn’t possible.

Can I register straight away for the whole year or for several years?

Yes. You can register straight away for a full year.

Would you like to develop your project over several years? That’s also possible, but you’ll need to submit an official application each year. This ensures a healthy flow of existing and new organisations.

When can I submit my application?

You can submit your application at any time throughout the year. We review applications twice a year, on fixed deadlines. If you submit your application after a deadline, it will automatically be carried over to the next deadline.
