Dear reader,
On 19, 20 and 21st of June the exhibition spaces of Broei will be taken over by us, the master students Textile Design LUCA School of Arts.
16 students will present their master’s project in a curated expo, open to public for three days. You are welcome to join the opening on Friday night starting 18:00 or visit the exhibition during the weekend.
We will show a large variety of works and practices with each a different approach to textile art and design. Reshaping any traditional idea surrounding textile practices. The master’s project is a culmination of a yearlong research into different topics. Themes stretch from colour and shine theory to scenography, from public space to the home, from queer and feminist theory to folklore and myths, from patterns to film stills, from the body to language – to name a few. Exploring, with care for craftsmanship, techniques ranging from felting to weaving, silk screen print, spinning, knitting, natural dyeing, sculpting, quilting and welding. Each student answers in their own way, what it means to be a maker in contemporary society.
This is the end of a multi-year exchange. What remains of our immaterial collaboration? A figurative friendship book in the shape of an exhibition. Can’t wait to see you there <3
