ECO ANALOG PHOTOGRAPHY by Lyn De Weijer
THURSDAYS 19H & SATURDAYS 14HFEB – APR 2026
In this trajectory, we explore analog photography through an ecological lens, working on experimentation and a personal project from start to finish across eight sessions.
Rather than focusing on technical perfection, this workshop invites you to rethink what photography can be. Through hands-on experimentation in the darkroom, we work with low-impact and plant-based processes such as anthotypes, cyanotypes, and alternative developers made from materials like coffee or beetroot. Along the way, we reflect on themes of impermanence, care, and letting go—embracing images that may fade, change, or evolve over time. The process is both about craftsmanship and concept: guided, but open to surprise.
You’ll gain the fundamental skills needed to work with analog photography while being supported in developing your own project. Experimentation is central, and outcomes don’t have to be flawless—unexpected results are part of the work.
We’ll conclude the trajectory with an exhibition at broei.lab during the first weekend of May, the opening weekend of Broei & Atelier in Beeld, where all projects will be presented to the public.

WHAT YOU NEED
An analog camera to take your pictures with. You’ll get the film roll from us. If you don’t have an analog camera but really want to join this course, please reach out by sending a dm or a mail to julie.lab@broei.be, then we can look for a solution together. For some of the processes you’ll need a digital camera, but your phone will do!
No experience needed—just curiosity, a playful spirit, and an openness to surprises.
ABOUT LYN DE WEIJER
Lyn her work moves between fiction and reality, blending staged scenes with documentary elements through image and text. Lately, she has been focusing on ecological ways of printing as a way of taking care, playing, and embracing unpredictability and our short-lived nature. This shift grows naturally from her ongoing search for connection— extending care beyond human relationships to animals, materials, and the environment.
